Poodle Skirt Photo

I would like share a photo from the sock hop the grand-kids finally got to go to.  It had to be rescheduled due to extreme weather conditions.

This is Harmy Bear in her Poodle Skirt I whipped up and posted Jan 1, 2012, with Boo Bear in his 1950's get up, they look so cute.  It was a family event and I heard it was a great success.

Sock Hop 2012

I guess Miss Harmy Bear took Sock Hop literally.  Though you can not tell from the photo the gym was wall to wall people, the kids got in first because my Daughter worked a concession stand.  I'm just so grateful to get the picture.

Poodle Skirt

I found out yesterday that my granddaughter has her first dance this coming Friday, (Feb 3), a sock hop. Her mother was taking her to the thrift store to see what kind of outfit they could come up with.  Hello, Grammy Bear would so make you a poodle skirt.  She said I wouldn't have enough time, huh....sounds like challenge....
I looked up poodle skirts online, then poodle appliques.  I didn't have a skirt pattern and I seriously didn't have time to shop one so I pulled out the box of patterns and used the skirt part of this dress.  I love vintage patterns.....

As you can see it's short, so I added 5 1/2" around the bottom.

I ran to Walmart, (WE DO NOT HAVE A PROPER FABRIC STORE HERE AT THE BEACH, ANYWHERE, the NEAREST ONE IS IN WILMINGTON.  OVER AN HOUR AWAY, SO NOT RIGHT!), JOANNE, PLEASE COME TO THE BEACH!!!
Under the skirt I have an attached slip (made of costume satin, with tulle attached to make the skirt flow outward). I used the same pattern.
I came up with the leash idea...
My daughter promised me pictures, I will have them next week.

Here's the skirt I'm shipping out tomorrow....She will have it by Wed.
