Hanging Around

Living in condos, it seems like people move in and out often.  Some people leave in a big hurry and find that they can't take everything they own.  I love it when that happens.  Some of my great finds are right here where I live.
I found this frame by the dumpster a while back and I made a bulletin board with it.
I've seen so many awesome ways and designs done before, here's my tutorial.

Framed Bulletin Board Tutorial

I painted the frame with this beautiful blue.
The frame has 2 different bevels, I had to come up with an idea to fill both in order to keep the board flat on the back.
I measured the first inside bevel, and cut my foam board.
I measured cork board to fit on to the foam board, leaving a 1/4 inch all the way around for a  better fit in the frame.
I measured and glued cork board onto the foam board.

After the glue dried, I measured the fabric, ribbon, and spaced the clothes pins.

I glued (tacky glue) and tacked the fabric to the back of the board.

To be sure the clothes pins were secure on the ribbon I used an all purpose cement glue.

Then I secured the ribbon on the back of the board, using the tacky glue.  There are 2 ribbons, one with the clothe pins, one without.

After everything has dried, I'm ready to put my first layer down.  I glue all around the first bevel with tacky glue.

To be sure it was secured, I laid books on top, until it dried.

Lastly, I glued a ribbon for hanging, and glued another cut foam board on top to flatten the back of the frame.
Laid books on top until it dried.

I added 3 loose clothes pins on the horizontal ribbon and added the little note pad.  Then gave it to Deby....to keep better track of her busy life.
Total out of pocket cost for this project, was $14.
Happy Crafting!

  19. While I love my house, I do miss apartment living. Much better "pickings" than in my suburban neighborhood. I love the memo board. Thanks for sharing on Tout It Tuesday.
